More and more, assisted living and long-term care communities are using technology to align with quality initiatives. In fact, residential care communities are beginning to use electronic health records (EHRs) to manage transitions from hospital to residential care communities or long-term care settings, avoid/reduce re-hospitalizations, and improve outcomes for individuals with multiple chronic conditions. By applying a Health Information Technology (HIT) adoption methodology, senior-living organizations can also reduce cost and time spent educating staff on technology pre-go-live, during system upgrades, and onboarding new hires. This session will focus on how senior living organizations can apply the four critical components of HIT adoption to maximize their quality investment. We will examine the difference between implementation and adoption, identify the most common challenges of adoption and review strategies for overcoming them, and apply the four drivers of EHR adoption to senior living organizations implementing new HIT.
